I’ve been digging into my archive recently and am delighted to share some of my favourite frames from more than 30 years of making pictures.
You can probably tell straight away it’s farming! I love making images like this: shooting around an event in a slightly left-field way to create small, additional storytelling moments. I’m always looking for different perspectives too, and often find myself working from a lower angle – either to add a sense of drama or to remove distracting elements, as in this image.
This photograph was commissioned as part of a wider brief for SAC Consulting, to build a library of images that reflects the breadth and diversity of the services and sectors they cover. It follows a style I developed using a shallow depth of field to draw the eye to the “hero” of the shot, while the softer, out-of-focus areas provide a supporting narrative.
In essence, it’s a picture of someone’s wellies in a freezing cold shed, but I absolutely love it!
