My Favourite Frames #3

I’ve been digging into my archive recently and am delighted to share some of my favourite frames from more than 30 years of making pictures.

Environmental portraiture has always been my thing. I love working with people, getting to know them, and translating who they are into a visual narrative that speaks to the viewer. This image comes from a really enjoyable shoot a few years back, when drinks manufacturer Fever-Tree commissioned me to photograph a series of images to support the launch of a new product. We visited several raspberry producers across Perthshire, documenting the people and places behind the ingredients.

The chap pictured here was one of the few producers still machine-harvesting raspberries at the time. In line with the brief, the portrait was made using available light, placing him as the hero among his raspberry canes.
It really doesn’t get much simpler than this – but that simplicity is exactly what I love about it. It’s natural, honest, and quietly confident, which is why it’s earned a place in my Favourite Frames.
