I love this picture! It was taken in the third week of 2026 in one of my favourite cities in Spain, Barcelona. My wife and I stole a couple of days there straight after the Oxford Farming Conference and enjoyed some relaxing time mooching around and drinking way too much cava! This frame was captured at the Carmel Bunkers – a spot I’d wanted to visit for a long time as a potential location to shoot a gigapixel panorama of the city. While my wife was enjoying an afternoons spa treatment at The Mandarin, I made my way up here and spent a couple of hours taking in the views, people watching and capturing a nice series of pics.
Shot directly in to the low afternoon light, I like this frame a lot. I like the different narratives happening in the fore and mid layers and the expanse of city opening up in the rear of the image. I also really like the cool kinda hazy light that ou get at this time of year. This is one of my favourite frames from our time there.
