Although I work extensively in agri-food and aquaculture, I’ve photographed well beyond these sectors – truth be told, there’s not much I haven’t tackled in my 20+ year career.
Sometimes photography is simply about being in the right place at the right time. Case in point: I was shooting for the then Fairfield Housing Co-operative, creating images for their annual report, when this remarkable scene unfolded. Three matriarchs of the estate appeared out of nowhere – and were remarkably sprightly for their combined ages! I managed to fire off a few frames and came away with this one, which, despite having no direction or planning, became one of the strongest shots from the days shoot.
For me, photography is often about these fleeting moments. The joy is in capturing them – but the ones I miss? They stick with me, and I remember almost every single one.
