I absolutely loved photographing Becky and Sam’s wedding on film in Liverpool! They were such a lovely couple to work with and seriously enthusiastic about creating real nice photographs on film. It was the first time I’d photographed a wedding in Liverpool and was fortunate to spend the most glorious afternoon (it was 30 degrees!) with them pre-wedding scouting locations to shoot. Driving down the day before, I joined them at their wedding rehearsal and then back to Becky’s parents house for a lovely dinner which was a great opportunity to meet and chat with everyone before their big day.
I love exploring new cities and after a hearty ‘Dockers’ breakfast, headed out in to the city and shot some environmental pics for their album. The morning light wasn’t amazing and the forecast was looking bleak for later on in the day. The heavens had opened by the time I joined Becky at home for prep pics and there was tragically little let-up in the weather for the rest of the day. Anyway, we made the best of what we were given, worked with little pockets of light inside their venue and when there was a break in the rain, we ventured out to shoot formals.
Not only were their after dinner speeches amazing and truly heart-felt but also provoked terrific reactions from family and friends which led to some really great pictures. Usually I’m the only one shooting film cameras at weddings these days but I was delighted to see guests capturing their own pictures on film as well which was real nice! I can’t wait to go back and photograph another wedding in or around Liverpool. I love the light in estuary towns, especially when it’s not chucking it down with rain!
