St Leonards Church, Perth is a fine example of the late Gothic revival, designed by John J Stevenson of London and opened in 1885. It’s outstanding architectural features include a crown tower and heavy buttresses. We have the pleasure of overlooking the church from our home and I often marvel at the spire in early evening light, putting me in mind of St Giles in Edinburgh. The carpet of crocuses that come up every year on the South Inch provide the perfect foreground interest for this picture. I love the early morning colours, the punchy light and the anticipation of longer and warmer days to come.
